Parents Retreat
In May 2009 inaugural foundation21 Parents Retreat was attended. Parents had a chance to relax, have fun and learn together, in the beautiful surrounds of the Barossa Valley.
Guest speakers informed the group on topics such as planning for the financial future of our kids, education, and speech – with the highlight of the weekend being a presentation by Tammy Lane – a young lady who has Down syndrome, and spoke about her remarkable achievements in life so far – and she is only 22 years old!
Of course there was also a chance for some R & R and the Flying Fox over Cudlee Creek sent the adrenalin pumping…

Buddy Walk® was established to promote awareness and inclusion for people of all ages with Down syndrome during October, National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
It is a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome.
Buddy Walk ® plays a key role in helping raise funds for the development of educational and health support programs such as speech therapy for children and young adults with Down syndrome. This year Foundation 21 has committed to providing a major grant to the Down Syndrome Society of SA’s Camps and Getaways program from the proceeds of the walk. This will enable more young people with Down syndrome to take part in these fun activities.
Join in the fun of Buddy Walk® when some of Adelaide’s media and sporting celebrities “Buddy Up” with kids with Down syndrome for a leisurely stroll around the Torrens River from Elder Park… whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does or just want to show your support, come walk with us and experience the possibilities…
